Welcome

Welcome to the House of Scalcini. This site is an opportunity to share all things “family”: Our history, our stories, photos -old and new, memorabilia, and events. It is a work in progress that will never be completed as long as we have our families and their stories to tell. Check back often to the ongoing story of the “House of Scalcini.” and the “House of Shobar”

So far we have hot buttons to the culture backgrounds of our family: Italian, German, Swedish Slovenian, Polish and Irish. There is a hot button devoted to Mom and Dad and their children. There i a hot button devoted to Gus and Mabel. These sites will be our history including photos, stories, memorabilia. (If other family groups warrant their own hot button, they will be added.)

Documents and Photos will also have hot buttons so that one may view the documents and photos without reading through all the text. These will be indexed at the beginning of the page. (Recipes will not have their own hot button but will be indexed under the specific culture/family from which they come.

The last hot button is NEWS. This is for current events: family milestones (graduations, births) family happenings and get togethers, and vacations and getaways. A good place to post stories and photos.

You are welcome to share your stories, a ventures, memories and photos. There are only two caveats: Do not speak ill of the dead; respect the living

Happy sharing

  1. Hello, I write from Buenos Aires, Argentina. My great-grandmother, Beatriz Gezzini, was born in 1885. Initially of unknown parents, she was recognized as a legitimate daughter by Maria Scalcini, Antonio’s daughter, shortly after, according to the records of Andalo Valtelino, Sondria, Italy. Maria was single. Then we do not know when he arrived in Argentina. I wanted to ask you if you know about that story or if you know from which communes of Sondrio, apart from Andalo Valtelino and Piantedo, I could find Maria Scalcini. Also if you have other sources of information I would appreciate it.
