Grandpa Gus family came from two families  in the Dalsland and Vramland regions of Sweden. These pages will recount the history and customs of the regions and will include pictures and stories of those people. The two families are the Grek (Greek) family and the Edstrom family. Because Sweden used several naming patterns not all surnames are Grek of Edstrom. The three most common surname patterns were: 1: Patronymic- the taking on of father’s name( Petersson~son of Peter or Andersdotter~daughter of Anders;  2: Surnames by place of residence (Edstrom~ Ed (the part of Dalsland) + Strom stream or river. The Edstroms lived along the Eds river in Dalsland). 3: Surnames by craft or occupation (Bergmann~miner)
