SNOW
Everyone who decorates for Christmas likes the added touch of “snow”. Growing up is was snow whipped up from Ivory Flakes Soap and then added to the tree with a fork.
“Real” plastic snow is the new tradition
THE CHRISTMAS TREE
Choosing the Christmas tree is always a family adventure. Growing up, our family always purchased a cut tree from one of the local tree lots. We always took Daddy along as the measuring stick. If the tree was as tall as Daddy it was neither too short or too tall but JUST RIGHT
The Oakland tradition was having a living potted tree. Always started out smallish and grew bigger each year until it was time to get a new one. Every seven years the process started again.
The newest tradition is pulling the tree with pre-strung lights out from its storage place under the house.
CHRISTMAS CANDY
Then: those nougat almond candies that came in little boxes with fancy art?
Now: those boxes of Sees candy and how we each get a box individually chosen filled with our favorites?
